MARIENLYST STRANDHOTEL
Looking for a venue that does more than provide a room and a projector? At Marienlyst Strandhotel — named Denmark's Leading Conference Hotel in both 2024 and 2025 — your next meeting, conference, or kick-off comes with a setting that genuinely lifts the work. Nineteen point nine metres from the Øresund. Forty-five minutes from Copenhagen.
The Setting
Ideas land differently when the view is open water and Kronborg Castle. Every one of our 30 meeting and conference rooms has natural daylight. Most have direct access to a terrace, balcony, or the beach itself. The spaces range from intimate boardrooms for 10 to historic banquet halls and our purpose-built 5th floor wing for groups of up to 450. The wing operates as a hotel within the hotel, with 83 dedicated rooms, a private rooftop terrace, lounge areas, and all AV handled by a dedicated technical expert assigned to your event. Each booking comes with a personal contact from first enquiry to final handshake.
Getting Here
The hotel is located at Ndr. Strandvej 2, Helsingør — a 45-minute drive or direct train from Copenhagen. Buses and trains stop right outside. For those arriving on foot from Helsingør station, there is a 2 km coastal walk along the shore. Parking is available on site (charges apply); the hotel has charging stations for electric vehicles.
What's Included
All meeting packages include modern AV and PC equipment, a dedicated technical expert, notepads and pens, coffee, tea, water, juice and fruit throughout the day. A personal event coordinator manages your programme from start to finish.
The Lunch
Our conference lunch concept, The Lunch, combines an expansive buffet with curated food stations, where chefs present dishes directly to guests. Freely explore different flavours and preparations, all in one place.
Gastronomy
Three restaurants, each with its own character. Restaurant Isabell serves Nordic classics with local seasonal ingredients and a view of the sea — warm, familiar, unhurried. Restaurant 1861 is the fine dining option: an exclusive setting for neatly curated dishes with Nordic roots and a wine programme to match. Gemma, our newest addition, brings Italian sensibility to the Øresund coast — honest ingredients, authentic flavour, a lighter mood. Rory Bar and Playground offers cocktails and an evening atmosphere with room for informal gatherings. The Vinothek rounds out the evening for anyone who wants to linger over a glass.
Pool Club & Spa
Overnight conference guests have access to our Pool Club in the morning — a generous facility that spans both indoors and outdoors. Indoors: heated pools, whirlpools, steam rooms, and salt therapy. Outdoors: an infinity pool with panoramic views over the Øresund, beach saunas with guided aroma rituals (saunagus), and a pool terrace with sun loungers and bar service. The wine terrace, positioned to catch the sunset over the water, is a natural gathering point at the end of the day. Treatments and spa bookings are available for individual guests.
Teambuilding & Afterwork
From clay pigeon shooting and beach teambuilding to wine tasting, private saunagus sessions, yoga, breathwork, and a full Playground triathlon — activities are available for groups of any size, indoors and out, and can be built into a full programme or offered as standalone afterwork experiences.
Rooms
322 rooms, many with direct sea views. Interiors balance the hotel's historic character with timeless, understated comfort — white and beige tones, wooden furniture, mahogany details. The 5th floor wing offers 83 rooms dedicated to conference groups, with private rooftop access.

Sustainability
At Marienlyst Strandhotel, sustainability is driven by what we call BæreLyst — a genuine desire to make a difference, not just a compliance exercise. Comfort, quality and environmental responsibility go hand in hand here.
We hold the Green Key certification, an internationally recognised ecolabel that sets strict requirements for energy use, water consumption, waste management, and the use of environmentally certified cleaning products. Across the hotel, LED lighting is standard, and sustainable practices run throughout daily operations — much of it behind the scenes.
In the kitchen, the focus is on local and seasonal ingredients, reduced food waste, and sourcing with care. Our conference lunch concept, The Lunch, was developed with sustainability as a core ambition alongside the guest experience.
We are equally committed to social sustainability. Our team represents 28 nationalities, and we invest actively in social initiatives and professional development for our staff. We are also engaged with the local community in Helsingør and the surrounding area.
Guests arriving by train or bus will find both stop directly outside the hotel. For those driving, EV charging is available on site. We actively encourage greener travel choices and make it easy to arrive without a car.
For meeting bookers whose organisations report on sustainability credentials, Marienlyst is a Green Key-certified venue — one of the clearest signals in the hospitality sector that environmental standards are taken seriously.
